OUR MISSION AND WHERE IT ALL STARTED

The idea for Victory for Vets originally was a plan to host a summer BBQ as a way to thank customers and staff of IBN Financial in Liverpool, NY. Rick Carlesco, CEO, wanted to have the event be a way to raise money for a local non profit group, while at the same time, thanking those that helped make his business successful.

After visiting Clear Path for Veterans, he decided that they were the group that he wanted to help. As the ideas for the event grew, so did the realization that an office BBQ was not going to be a large enough venue for what we wanted to accomplish.

We began working with B104.7, local bands, Sharkey’s of Liverpool, volunteers and local businesses – and the first annual Victory for Vets Music Fest was born!!

From the beginning, our plan was that this would not be a one time event, but a yearly day long music festival that we hope will get bigger and more successful every year.

Our first year was a HUGE success, raising $16,000 for Clear Path for Veterans. We had an all day line up of great local bands including TJ Sacco and the Urban Cowboys, Custom Taylor Band, Frank & Burns, and Pour Whyte Trash, along with acoustic singer Jim McBain who provided music during intermissions. We had a great response from local businesses and individuals who sponsored the event and donated items to raffle off during the event, an amazing group of volunteers that helped both before and during the event, and a fabulous turnout by the community the day of the event.

In 2015, we went through the process of becoming incorporated and officially formed Victory For Vets, Inc. It is our goal to continue to grow and serve our local Veterans with our annual music event, and eventually with other projects and fundraising efforts through out the year!

Our 2nd Annual Victory for Vets Music Fest was held on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Sharkey’s Sports Bar from 12:00 – 9:00 PM in Liverpool NY, and was a HUGE success!! $18,710 was raised for Clear Path for Veterans. The all day event had an incredible line up of bands: TJ Sacco, Dirtroad Ruckus, Pour Whyte Trash, Frank & Burns, and The Chris Taylor Band! We ended the day with our headliner – The Todd Hobin Band. The weather was fantastic and we could not have asked for a better day with more than 800 guests coming through the gate!!

In 2016, we were excited to have John Waite as our headline band, and add a motorcycle ride to the day’s events. Although we had torrential rain and stifling heat that day, those that attended still had an amazing time. After the August event, we began adding additional events throughout the year, including a SU Tailgate Party, a Chili Cook-Off and monthly dinners. Our goal was to have the opportunity to raise awareness and funds throughout the year instead of just on one day.
For 2017, our music fest will be held on August 5th at Sharkey’s. We have 5 bands participating this year, including Molly Hatchet as our headliner. Our latest addition to the day’s event will be a golf tournament at Liverpool Golf Course. Participants will receive a general admission ticket to the music fest included in the cost of the tournament.
